Constable Deepak Kumar (Hin: दीपक कुमार; 1991-2016) was the victim in Treacherous Waters (Case #20 of World Edition).

Deepak was a constable for the Mumbai police. He has black hair and eyes. At the time of his death, he was wearing his police uniform. It is known that he had a younger sister named Amrita.

Murder details

Deepak was found dead in a flooded museum with a bullet wound in his chest. According to Angela, he was already dead before the museum was flooded because of the lack of water in his lungs. The wound was further examined by Jonah, who managed to determine how the gun was aimed due to the bullet's trajectory. According to him, it was fired by someone who was dominant on their right, which meant the killer was right-handed.

After examining the museum again, the player and Jack managed to find a gun inside a plastic box. An analysis from Jonah managed to determine it was the murder weapon that killed Deepak. He managed to find fibers on the gun's trigger, and Lars found out they came from the killer's clothing, which was colored green. This meant the killer wore green clothing.

Killer and motives

The killer turned out to be the victim's sister named Amrita Kumar.

Amrita initially denied killing her brother, whom she loved, but admitted the crime soon after. Amrita was alone in the museum and felt someone approaching her from behind. Thinking the person was a raider, she turned around and fired her gun without identifying the person (per her brother's advice on self-defense). She discovered too late that she had taken Deepak's life.

At the trial, Judge Adaku understood that the murder was an accident, but also stated Amrita tried to divert police attention. The judge issued a 7-year jail sentence for Amrita.

  • Deepak's death at the hands of his sister is one of the instances of domestic homicide in World Edition.
