Joe Turner was the victim in The Reaper and the Geek (Case #37 of Grimsborough).

Joe was a cosplayer and a science fiction fan. He had neck length wavy brown hair, brown eyes, and wore dark red glasses. Before his death, he was seen wearing a red Star Trek t-shirt with an upside down triangle and a black collar.

Murder details

As Jones and the player arrived at the Sci-fi Festival, they spotted Joe impaled on the entrance statue (featuring Ripper Jade). His body had been pushed from the upper floor and his chest was ripped through by the scythe the Ripper Jade statue was holding. The team then investigated the scene, removed Joe's body and handed it to the coroner, Nathan.

After autopsying the body, Nathan told the team that he had noticed that Joe was holding a professional badge in his hand, which he must have had grabbed from his killer when he fell to his death. This meant that the killer was a professional attendant of the Sci-fi Fantasy Festival.

Killer and motives

The killer turned out to be Sci-Fi Festival organizer Peri Foreman.

Peri had been the organizer of several festivals where Joe had been present and his behaviour had been bad. So, to make sure everything would go fine, Peri took him to the upper staging and told him that he must behave in this festival so not to embarrass her. Joe laughed at her face, which made Peri angry and slap Joe on the face. The two then started to fight. Joe grabbed Peri and attempted to shove her off the rail, but somehow, Peri managed to turn Joe around and he accidentally fell off the rail, causing him to be stabbed to death by the scythe carried by the Ripper Jade statue. Peri was terrified of what she did, and was going to call the police and turn herself in. However, she did not want her festival to be closed so early, so she agreed that she would turn herself in after the festival.
