Events of Criminal Case
Ray was called into the investigation when Frank and the player found a gardening tool next to the murder weapon in the primary crime scene. Ray lost that tool a few years ago when he was working on plant experiments, specifically a carnivorous plant he named "Julian". After Pacific Pharma cancelled the project (grounds for Ray's alleged unemployment), Ray opted to take care of the carnivorous plant on his own and even claimed that the human body had chemicals which were beyond the plant's appetite.
Ray demonstrated signs of plant care after Chief Marquez released Hannah from military prison, exonerated of treason charges pressed against her by the military. This caused the team to talk to Ray once again. Ray felt that plants had the right to choose for themselves but Frank had to ask some questions. Ray felt that since his carnivorous plant was the murder weapon, the military endeavored to kill his plant to exact justice so he picketed to protect nature even going far to declare his carnivorous plant as his life's work, causing the team to go back to the crime scene for further investigation.
It was later revealed that Ray was responsible for the murder of soldier Nora Lewis. Ray killed Nora because he thought that she was going to kill his giant plant Julian, so he knocked Nora with her gun, covered her body in fertilizer and fed her to his plant Julian. Judge Dante sentenced Ray to 40 years in prison.
