Events of Criminal Case

In the Line of Fire

After arresting Otis Kidd's killer, she was spoken to by the player and Maddie regarding the arson that took place earlier. When they arrived, Rose said she figured out how the fire got started, it was likely started by the kerosene tank they found last case. She also pointed out it was full when it was logged as evidence, but when it was found it was empty and half-burned. In order to find out who, Rose suggested they dust it for fingerprints, so the player and Maddie did just that.

Death Without Parole

After arresting Kev O'Connell's killer, Isaac and the player investigated claims from Catastrophe Joan that Rose beat an unfair confession out of someone for money for a crime they did not commit. While they did prove a murder did occur, Isaac and the player wanted to speak with her about the allegation that she beat someone brutally for a confession. She said she knew he was guilty, and was glad they managed to find the body after all these years. However, she did say she stepped over the line when getting the confession, but it was never for reward, but for justice.

Blood Bath

It was reported that Rose was standing guard over Vinnie Costa, as the team was awaiting Vittorio Capecchi's trial, which Vinnie is going to testify at. However, when they got there, Vinnie was found dead, then Rose came in claiming to have heard an explosion, then when she came back she found Vinnie dead. Despite the diversion, the team had no choice but to flag Rose as a suspect in Vinnie's murder for the time being. She said she barely left the victim's side, and always locked the door, the time she heard that explosion was no exception. But even then, after she realized it was a distraction, she returned to find Vinnie dead, and the door was still locked. She was in absolute disbelief that she even fell for that trick, so Maddie just told her to return to the airship for the time being as she was now a suspect.

Rose had to be interrogated again about a white powder Viola made for her prosthetic rubs against her arm, which was found on some playing cards at the crime scene. She did not deny it, as she felt it was perfect to pass the time and she was still keeping her eyes on the victim. When Maddie said that Rose seemed negligent in keeping watch over Vinnie, Rose remarked saying she had her own ways of doing things and she would not have anyone calling her incompetent, but Maddie said she was not helping her own case in establishing her innocence.

Rose was found to be innocent after the team incarcerated Clay Westwood for Vinnie's murder. Later on, Rose approached the team saying that Vittorio had challenged the team to a showdown, so she set everything up for them to defend themselves. Once that was all set, Vittorio arrived and they had their firefight. After the first round, Maddie and the player gathered some more bullets, which were sent to Rose once they were done. Besides that, Rose also got help from Catastrophe Joan, who decided to put aside her differences with Rose in order to take down Vittorio. And once everything was all set, they returned to face Vittorio and they had their second firefight.

Bridge over Troubled Water

After arresting Thomas Boyd's killer, Rose asked the player to help her find the thief who had stolen her gun. She immediately accused Diego of being the thief. Rose and the player then found the gun on Crimson Bridge, and Viola identified Evie as the thief. Rose then confronted Evie, who admitted that she had taken the gun because she wanted to learn how to shoot to show courage and confront her fears. Rose then complimented and consoled Evie and thanked the player for their help.

Stick to Your Guns

After arresting Edna Owens' killer, Diego decided that he would infiltrate the Italian gang for more information. But Evie and the player found out he was kidnapped by the gang. After determining his location, Rose came in saying they would need a plan before going to save him. However, she insisted that Evie stay at the ship, much to Evie's objections. After swearing they would bring Diego back, they went to the disused baths, and found him face down in the baths, but still alive. After some time, he explained that the person who did that to him was Marvin Ferrari, who he discovered was a part of the gang raid at the weapons armory. After telling them his hiding place, they went there and arrested him for assaulting Diego.

A Study in Pink

After arresting Barbara Coldwell's killer, Rose told the player about her design for a type of body armor that would help defend the Squad, following recent events. After they found the blueprint in Evie's library, Rose managed to manufacture the bulletproof vest. They then asked Dick to test the vest, which proved successful, meaning that the Squad would be prepared for whatever the Rochesters had planned for them.

Arrow of Injustice

Rose became a suspect again after Isaac and the player found traces of lubricating oil for her metal arm at the crime scene. She did confirm she had been meeting with Mayor, specifically to discuss how to roll out the bulletproof vest she created for the Police Department. Though it was a slog to get through at first, she managed to make some progress with the victim, despite him dying before the project was complete. She then pointed them to the Starlight Cafe, as she believed that was where the killer took their shot to kill Mayor Castletown, so Isaac and the player continued their investigation there.

Rose was later spoken to about an old penknife she sent to the victim, with a message saying "30 years today. Never forget." She said the knife was a memento of their time together in the Concordian Cadets; one day they were trekking down Coyote Gorge when a they got caught in a rockfall, one of the boulders landing on her arm. Cornelius ran off, leaving Rose alone, and was left alone for days until she had no choice but to cut off her arm with a penknife so she could escape. It fueled her rage for years, since the Mayor was the reason she ended up losing her arm.

Despite their past, Rose was found innocent after the team incarcerated Eleanor Halsted for Cornelius' murder.

The New Truth!

After Mayor Lawson had sentenced Florence Samuels for the murder of Judge Takakura, Diego devised a plan to break her out of prison. After he did so, Rose and the player carried out the plan, posing as prison guards and breaking into the prison to free Florence and take her to the docks so she could go to Australia and serve a custodial sentence there with manual labor.

Best Laid Plans

While Isaac and the player were in Lady Highmore's manor, arresting Giulietta Capecchi for the murder of Lawson's right-hand man, Inspector Jaubert, the Justice Corps stormed the Squad's airship, having gotten a tip-off from Officer Smythe that they were sympathetic to the resistance against Lawson's regime. Rose was captured, along with the rest of the Squad, and thrown in the dungeon under the town square to await their execution the following day. Dick and Charlie were able to escape.

Later, the four cops not arrested by the Corps were able to break into the prison and free the Squad, along with Lawson's other political prisoners. She expressed his gratitude before telling the prisoners that they needed to escape quickly. Upon resurfacing, she told the team to split up as to not attract attention and meet up at Highmore's manor, where they would be safe.

Last Stand for Justice

Shortly after finding Charlie's body in the airship, Maddie and the player found Rose's gun outside, which (per Viola) was used to shoot Charlie in the heart. Rose claimed to have nothing to do with the murder, saying that she had left all her guns on the airship when they were arrested.

Later, the team found a blueprint of a device Charlie refused to build, which they traced back to Rose. Rose said the device was a bomb that would be rigged in a location where Lawson was frequently and that the bomb would detonate when he was in the vicinity. However, Charlie refused to build it, believing that resorting to violence was not the solution to Lawson's oppressive rule. Rose disagreed however, stating that the time for diplomacy was over given that so many were suffering under his rule.

Rose was found to be innocent when Diego was found guilty of the murder. Post-trial, Rose started making plans in the team's negotiation with Judge Umbright, who wanted the team's surrender in exchange for the return of George Dupont, Maddie's son. Rose asked for a baby toy from Maddie and the player. They returned with a rattle, which Rose subsequently rigged to send an electric shock. She, Maddie, and the rest of the team then went to talk to Umbright, where she was able to trick Umbright into holding the rattle and getting shocked unconscious.

Rose proved to be indirectly instrumental in Lawson's downfall as her bulletproof vests allowed the Squad to have the upper hand on him. A few days after attending Charlie's funeral, Rose said that she planned to take Ratsputin to Switzerland.

Trivia

  • Despite being billed as 34 years old in her character reveal artwork, Rose appears to be 39 (and later 45) in-game.
  • Rose is one of the main characters who are flagged as a suspect for plausible reasons.
  • Rose is one of the characters to appear as a quasi-suspect five times.
  • Rose is one of the characters to appear as a suspect thrice.
  • In Rose's mugshots, it is shown that she has a human arm rather than having her prosthetic arm. This is probably a developer oversight.
