Events of Criminal Case
Tashi became a suspect after the player and Carmen found the victim's hat and other belongings in the temple. He was shocked to hear of Lam's murder, saying he saved his life by providing food and shelter when he got lost on the mountain. Normally, for him to stay he would have had to become a monk, but the victim never followed the rules saying they got in the way.
Tashi was interrogated again regarding him meeting with the victim about some sort of trial. He said the trial was to prove his love, specifically to the victim's adoptive daughter Deki. According to Tashi, it is a tradition in Bhutan that a spouse must prove his potential to his bride by undergoing three years of hard labor. For him, it mostly consisted of doing a lot of work around the monastery. He said he had to meet the victim as he was Deki's only family, and he intended to ask him for his daughter's hand in marriage as well as his blessing. Since he was killed, he was worried that will not ever have Lam's blessing to marry Deki.
Despite his feeling towards the victim, the evidence eventually pointed to Tashi as Lam's killer. Initially denying the murder, Tashi gave in and admitted. Tashi was going through a three-year trial to acquire the hand of Lam's adoptive daughter Deki. When he discovered that Lam had married Deki against her will, he wanted to save her by all means possible, thus he axed Lam's arm off. Understanding his motive, Judge Adaku sentenced Tashi to 10 years in jail for the murder.
- In Bhutan, no one but the king has a surname, which would explain his lack of surname.
