Events of Criminal Case

Tim became a suspect after the player and Isaac found his cheating device in the secret gambling room close to the crime scene. He knew the police did not look kindly on gambling, but Tim said it was his sole talent so he could make a living. When informed of Rowdy Rick's murder, Tim said they were wrong to think he had any part in it. Plus, the victim paid him for his winnings that same night, so he had less of a reason to kill Rick.

Tim was spoken to again about a scarf belonging to him found torn up in the victim's house. He was surprised to hear it was found torn up, saying the victim won it from him in whist, but Tim felt he had no appreciation for the finer things of life. Isaac had doubts that it was not torn up in a brawl ending with Rick's murder, but Tim resented their accusations saying his property was mishandled and he was the one behind bars.

At the climax of the investigation, it was revealed that Tim was behind Rowdy Rick's murder. After denying involvement, Tim admitted to the crime. Tim had beaten Rick in a game and the latter refused to pay his debt, making Tim angry. Intolerant to his stubbornness, Tim hit him in the head with a broken brass tap, killing him. Judge Takakura sentenced him to 12 years in jail.
